What's Happening This Morning

Asia mostly lower and Europe lower. S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 futures are lower by -3.50 and -4.25. Brent Crude is at $86.09 with gold at $1151.70 and natural gas at $4.21. The Up Dollar ETF (UUP) closed at $23.83 lower by -0.04%. Currencies see the Yen at 93.85 with the Pound at .65 and Euro at .75. The 20 Year Treasury ETF (TLT) closed at $90.21 higher by 0.11%. High yield bonds and corporate investment grade bonds slightly higher.

Yesterday saw 1343 stocks rise and 1735 fall on the NYSE. NASDAQ saw 1026 rise and 1676 fall. The S&P 500 is now above its 50 and 200 day moving average. The 10 day spread moving average of breadth has been poaitive but fading a bit here in the past ten days. We moved back to cash last week on the Madison Market Timing Indicator.

Economics

April Consumer Confidence is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to improve to 53.5% from 52.5%.

Politico

Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke will speak before Obama’s debt reduction commission. Goldman management to appear before the Senate to discuss their Darth Vader tendencies. President Obama attends the Bipartisan Debt Reduction Commission. President Obama begins two day trip to the Midwest.
